Charles Chilton moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater, only to
find unexpected success as the manager and buyer for the first Prada and
Christian Louboutin boutiques in NYC. Working directly with their designers,
he learned to convey a brand’s image with simplicity and tasteful restraint.

 

Charles brought this experience to a new career in corporate meetings and communication. After 20 years building content, defining strategies, and producing meetings, he founded his own firm to partner with select clientele across a range of industries.

Moving beyond meetings, TCG also creates content that exists between and apart from corporate meetings. Along with holistic strategies, the firm also produces singular content on an individual basis according to clients’ needs.

 

In all these pursuits, Charles’s passion lies in helping clients work better and smarter. Serving iconic brands as a trusted, consultative partner, he goes to great lengths to guard and elevate the client’s image. When necessary, Charles makes efficient use of limited resources, adding value without compromising on quality. His style tends towards modern, clean elegance, always aligned to the clients’ brand.

Anniversary & Awards Banquet for Major Realty Company

 

Challenge

A high-end real estate brand was celebrating its 40th anniversary with an awards show honoring its most successful agents.
The company also wanted the event to double as a trade show, with over 40 vendors in attendance. Despite a relatively limited ballroom space, the realty company wanted a stage with a band that reflected their refined brand. The real estate brand turned to The Chilton Group (TCG) for help arranging the space and streamlining the content.

 

TCG’s Solution

TCG made economic use of the ballroom, making space for the trade show and building an impressive double-stage—outfitted with a backdrop that slipped away for a surprise reveal of the band as the awards show began. Beforehand, TCG even engaged a dance company to pre-record four scenes from the company’s history. The firm also lined up guest speakers and helped condense the award show content down to a snappy hour-long presentation. Finally, TCG managed the production of several video testimonials celebrating the company’s anniversary.

 

Results

The awards show was extremely well-received: guested noted the clean-cut production, striking visual impact, and breezy pace of the presentation—formerly notorious for its bloated content and tedious length.

MEETING PRODUCTION

National Sales Meeting for Luxury Beauty Brand

 

Challenge 

An iconic beauty and fragrance brand was holding a national sales meeting with 200 attendees in the company’s newest office. Since the space wasn’t built to be a conference venue, the brand was at a loss as to how they were going to stage and run the meeting.

 

TCG’s Solution 

The Chilton Group adapted the non-traditional venue by placing the brand’s visuals front and center. The firm brought in a massive screen to serve as the centerpiece of the event and produced comprehensive content to support each speaker.

 

Results 

Creating a new, edgy setup without a traditional stage, TCG helped the brand put on a visually stunning event at a far lower cost. To stretch the budget even further, the firm worked with the brand to strategically schedule a second meeting for 400 attendees the next day—amortizing costs by using the same setup and arranging a livestream watched by hundreds of employees across the globe.

Small Annual Meeting for Italian Fashion Brand

 

Challenge 

An international Italian fashion brand needed to a hold a relatively small meeting for the managers of all its boutiques—a group of about 70. The company was looking to minimize costs, without sacrificing a memorable experience aligned to the brand’s image.

 

TCG’s Solution 

The Chilton Group suggested holding the meeting in a space that was both budget-friendly and iconic—a screening room at the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown Manhattan. The firm oversaw the creation of the video content prepared for the meeting and coached speakers to refine the content and style of their presentations.

 

Results 

The brand was thrilled with the meeting. Not only did the video content and speeches shine—the unique location suited the occasion perfectly. Without being ostentatious or expensive, the MoMA space provided a convenient, economic, and elevated venue for the brand.

VIDEO STRATEGY

Educational Makeup Tutorial for Luxe Beauty Brand

 

Challenge

An iconic beauty brand had to produce makeup tutorial videos for its retail partners. The tutorials would feature makeup experts demonstrating how to properly apply the latest products, and would be used to train beauty associates. Originally planned as seven-minute videos, the brand turned to TCG to produce several video tutorials.

 

TCG’s Solution

TCG recommended changes to the original direction: rather than having the makeup experts narrate the techniques live as they did them, the firm instead suggested that the experts narrate the steps as a voice-over on top of the video. This allowed for quicker cuts, tighter closeups, and the conveyance of more streamlined, concrete information.

 

Results

The final videos were clean, concise, and much shorter than originally envisioned: the tutorials were only two- to three-minutes long, allowing beauty associates to easily watch them multiple times in a short sitting and memorize the technique. The retail partners loved the tutorials and asked the brand to repeat the format for future videos.

Promotional Web Video for Established Author

 

Challenge 

An established author preparing to release his latest book was required by his publisher to produce a promotional video introducing himself and the story. The video would be used across the author’s social media channels and website. Since the publisher wasn’t willing to pay for it, the author turned to The Chilton Group to produce a polished product with a restricted budget.

 

TCG’s Solution 

TCG assembled a pared-down camera crew and production team from trusted contractors. The filming was finished within a few hours, but the crew was already paid for the full workday—their minimum for the engagement. Rather than letting that time go to waste, TCG suggested filming more content and producing supplementary videos at the same price, amortizing the costs over several videos. The firm’s elite editing team produced professional videos, despite the minimal expenses.

 

Results 

Both the author and publisher are extremely pleased with the promotional video, and the author ended up with four polished videos for the price of one. He has used these supplemental videos to generate engagement and interest on social media, and thanked TCG for capitalizing on the valuable opportunity he would have otherwise missed.

Storytelling Video for Iconic Fragrance Brand

 

Challenge

An iconic beauty company wanted to distribute an educational branding video about its latest fragrance to global retail partners.

The company had a concept and script in place, but needed to assemble a video that told the fragrance’s story, using a collection of over 20 existing digital assets.

 

TCG’s Solution

TCG carefully storyboarded the video using the existing assets, produced new video content, and directed its elite editing partners to put together a seamless, polished story. Having worked with this brand for over 20 years, TCG was able to quickly construct a visually cohesive video that supported the company’s business goals while aligning with its image.

 

Results

The video won one retail partner’s award for best launched video and succeeded in generating excitement and interest in the new fragrance. While much of the video was made from preexisting assets, the new creation was less of a patchwork quilt and more of a finely embroidered blanket. The brand continues to rely on TCG for the firm’s skill in luxury positioning.

A renowned fashion brand equipped its boutique associates with dedicated iPhones specially provisioned for in-store company use. The brand needed an easy way to train its employees on how to properly use these iPhones effectively and in accordance with company policies and expectations.

From technical how-to guides to quizzes on corporate policy, the lightweight web app was installed as a permanent bookmark on every device the company used in the U.S.
